Nintendo Weekly Fan News May 28th- June 1st

Today’s weekly update is brought to you by rumors being confirmed, rumors being brought up, and rumors being rumors.

New Nintendo 2DS XL Hylian Shield Edition
One of the first things we’ll be talking about today is this new look for the 2DS XL.

This system gets its name from the fact that it looks like Link’s Hylian Shield. It also comes pre-loaded with the game The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. Also, as the system’s name implies, it only plays 3DS games in 2D.

The system retails for $159.99 and comes out July 2nd. Also, this item will be a GameStop exclusive item.

Splatoon 2: New Stages and Weapons
This newest update comes after a while, but it’s here now, so let’s get to work.

One new stage is now available and that stage would be Wahoo World. This stage is a nice amusement park. However, don’t let that fool you. Battles can get intense here, despite its light-hearted theme.

There are also four new weapons available at Ammo Knights. These weapons include:

  • Rapid Blaster Pro Deco with Splash Wall & Ink Armor

  • Carbon Roller Deco with Burst Bombs & Autobomb Launcher

  • Custom Dualie Squelchers with Splat Bombs & Ink Storm

  • Undercover Sorella Brella with Splat Bomb & Baller

The update is available now.

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection
This new collection includes some classic Street Fighter game fans can enjoy. Included in this collection are the games:
Street Fighter
Street Fighter II: The World Warrior
Street Fighter II: Champion Edition
Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting
Super Street Fighter II
Super Street Fighter II Turbo
Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors’ Dreams
Street Fighter Alpha 2
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Street Fighter III: New Generation
Street Fighter III 2nd Impact: Giant Attack
Street Fighter III 3rd Strike: Fight for the Future

Fans of the series can also look at the past 30 years of Street Fighter history while in Museum Mode. Museum Mode includes including never before seen art, an interactive timeline, and tracks to play in the Music Player.

This collection also includes online-enabled versions of Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike.

Exclusive to the Nintendo Switch version is a special re-creation of Super Street Fighter II: The Tournament Battle. This allows up to eight players to link four Nintendo Switch systems together to form local tournaments.

Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!
Remember those rumors of both a Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! being the potential new Pokémon game that would be coming out soon. Well, they turned out to be true. So let’s look at the details we know so far.

Trainers will go on an adventure set in the iconic Kanto region joined by their Pikachu in Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Eevee in Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! They feature brand new game play to make the most of the unique capabilities of Nintendo Switch, such as throwing Poké Balls to catch Pokémon by swinging Joy-Con controllers. This game will also have a new two-player mode.
One of the most interesting and probably its main aspect of the game is that it interconnects with Pokémon Go. As we all know, Pokémon Go was a global sensation when it first came out. Nowadays, it’s still there, but with less of a sensation. However, this game may just bring that back. Players can catch Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region in Pokémon GO and then transfer them into their Nintendo Switch game. Also as implied in the video, something special will also be coming to the world of Pokémon GO, making the connection between both games even more appealing for Trainers. Details for this will be revealed in the future.

One other thing coming out with the game is the Poké Ball Plus. It is a device that can be used to play Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! in place of a Joy-Con or alongside Pokémon GO instead of the Pokémon GO Plus. The Poké Ball Plus features motion controls, lights up with a variety of colors, vibrates, and plays sounds. When catching a Pokémon in the Nintendo Switch games, players will be able to feel it moving within the device.

Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! will launch on November 16, 2018, exclusively on Nintendo Switch. The Poké Ball Plus will be available at participating retailers on the same day.

Pokémon Quest
Also revealed that same day, this game is quite different than a traditional Pokémon game. It’s a rather blocky adventure, possibly too blocky? Well anyway, just to start off, it’s available now on the Switch and it’s free to start. It will come to mobile devices later.

A quick summary of the game is best summarized by explaining some game play:

  • Battle by tapping- Pokémon Quest uses simple touch controls that are located at the bottom of the screen

  • Befriend many Pokémon- Use items collected throughout expeditions to befriend lots of Pokémon

  • Team of Pokémon- Create a team of up to 3 Pokémon to battle and explore with

  • Customize your base camp- The base camps is your home that is customizable with cool collectibles that not only look good, but can provide in-game benefits

Here is a trailer for this game and here is a trailer for Pokémon Let’s Go

Tidbit: Fortnite?
We are almost to the end of this week’s post, but before I go, we have one last rumor. That may or may not come true. This one has to do with the critically acclaimed and wildly popular game: Fortnite. Fortnite has taken the world by storm and now it looks like it may come to the Switch. A variety of sources have been found out that the game may potentially be announced at E3 for the Switch. The game is already available on the PC, PS4, Xbox One, and even the iOS. We shall see if this rumor holds water, but as always, take it with a grain of salt.

Well, that’s all for this week, so I hope to “see” you next week,

Tidbit: More Pokémon Rumors
In this little tidbit, we address the even more Pokémon rumors, but this time, with more solid evidence.

On the Nintendo UK site, a new page for an upcoming Pokémon Switch title has appeared. There are sign-ups on the site to receive emails on the latest news of this game. Little is known at the time about the game, but this new site could mean we may be getting an announcement sometime soon. I suspect we will see it showcased at E3, due to it being almost here.

Well, that’s all for this week, so I hope to “see” you next week

Ubisoft eShop Sale
In a recent sale going on, certain Ubisoft games are on sale for a limited time. Let me give you a quick rundown of these games:

  • Mario + Rabbids Battle Kingdom for $40.19

  • Just Dance 2018 for $34.79

  • Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition for $24.79

  • Uno for the Switch for $6.99

  • Monopoly for the Switch for $19.99

This sale lasts until May 21st

P.S. I would personally buy the Rabbids game at Walmart.com because it’s on rollback for around $29.88.

Nintendo E3 Enhancement
E3 is a little less than a month away, and some new announcements have been made. However, these are only details about the lines at E3, so nothing too special.

For this Nintendo E3, attendees need to reserve play slots ahead of time to play the new Super Smash Bros. game. Attendees will play two different ways, which includes going against people casually “for fun,” or play “for glory” in a competitive elimination match.

The reservation system for the Super Smash Bros. game is going to work like this:  Anyone who registers for E3 2018 by May 31 will receive an email from E3 organizers on June 5 with details about how to reserve one electronic ticket to play the game. Make sure to check out for that email, as it is necessary. As I said before, it is required to register beforehand or you cannot play the game. Tickets will be in the form of QR Code patterns that can be viewed and stored on a smartphone or printed out, whichever you please.

Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition Release
After some wait, Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition has finally released for the Switch.

This game is basically Hyrule Warriors, with some new changes. One of them is this game will include all previous DLC from Hyrule Warriors. The graphics are somewhat improved, due to it being on the Switch. Other than some other minor changes, the game should be the same.

The game retails for $59.99 and is available now.

Tidbit: Pokémon Let's Go! Pikachu
In an interesting tidbit of news from the rumor mill, there are some photos and shaky proof surrounding two new games called Pokémon Let's Go! Pikachu and Pokémon Let’s Go! Eevee. These games may or may not be the newest games planned for Switch. The only two photos I could find where of the domains of the sites. As usual, take these rumors with a grain of salt. I like to think these games may be true, but all the same.
