Nintendo Weekly News December 11th-15th

Today’s weekly news update is brought to you by lots of Nintendo Switches sold.

Nintendo Switch sells over 10 Million Units
This week, Nintendo has announced a major milestone accomplishment. The Nintendo Switch has sold over 10 million units worldwide!

On March 3rd, the Nintendo Switch released. Now since then, the console has over 500 games to choose from its virtual shop, the eShop. Some of the games come from independent game developers and others come from major companies such as its own Nintendo EDP. The console has come a long way since its initial release and it intends to continue that momentum into 2018.

The Switch retails for $299.99 and is available at GameStop, Toysrus, Target, Walmart, Best Buy, and other various retailers. As a quick tip, Target seems to be your best bet to find a Switch this holiday season. Other retailers tend to have low stock on the console.

Super Mario Build-a-Bear
Just in time for the Christmas season, a new line of Super Mario themed Build-a-Bear has been released.

The new line showcases Mario, Bowser, and Yoshi as Build-a-Bear bears. Well, Mario is a bear at least. Besides that, Toad is also a pre-stuffed mini bear. There are other accessories and clothes, such as a Mario hoody. There are also sounds for the bears, which include Bowser sound effects and the Super Mario theme song. Here is the link to the online shop for more details.

Mario Bear retails for $28.00, Bowser for $35.00, and Yoshi for $25.50. The rest of the prices are online.

Pokémon Crystal Announcement
It seems as though every day there is some new announcement from the Pokémon Company. This week they have announced plans to release Pokémon Crystal.

Pokémon Crystal released back then on July 29th, 2001 in North America. The game introduced the feature to play as a female character and it also introduced animations during Pokémon battles. The game releasing for the 3DS now lets you catch Celebi after finishing the game.

The game is set to release on January 26th, for $9.99.

Pokémon Ultra Moon/Sun Update
As mentioned before last week, a Pokémon Ultra Sun/Moon was set to release this month. On December 14th, it went live.

The patch was meant to clear up some issues plaguing the game. The issues included:

  • A bug where Ion Deluge did not work

  • Wide Guard reduced damage from all Z-Moves

  • The first move is deleted if you teach a Pokémon with 3 or fewer moves a move at the Move Tutor

  • If you chose Litten as your Starter Pokémon, the game would freeze

The issues have now been resolved, but as an unfortunate consequence, Battle Videos from before the latest version will no longer function.

Detective Pikachu Movie Details
As this week’s fun tidbit of news, further news has been announced for the movie.

The movie will have Ryan Reynolds voice Detective Pikachu and Justice Smith star as Tim Goodman. Kathryn Newton will star as the reporter helping Goodman solve a case of kidnap during the story.
The movie is slated for a release date of May 10th, 2019. We should get a countdown for this movie, despite it being 2 years and a half away from premiering.

Well, that’s all for this week folks, so I hope to “see” you next week!

Nintendo Weekly News December 4th-8th

Today’s weekly news update is brought to you by awards won by Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Mega Man 11 Announcement
During this week we had lots of game announcements, but one of the first was the announcement of Mega Man 11

Mega Man 11 is the latest of the Mega Man series. The game now features 3D models and environments, which is different from the pixel based games of the Mega Man past. Not much else is known for the game, but a trailer can be found here

The game will release late 2018 and will be available on the Switch.

Also, all 8 Mega Man X games and the Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 and 2 will arrive on the Switch soon.

Zelda for the Win! (And others)
This week was the Game Awards ceremony and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild won the Game of the Year award!

Along with that award, the game also won Best Game Direction and Best Action/Adventure Game awards.

Also, some other game awards for other Nintendo games include:

  • Best Handhold Game went to Metroid: Samus Returns

  • Best Family Game went to Super Mario Odyssey

  • Best Strategy Game went to Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle

Bayonetta 1 and 2 Launching on the Switch
Following the Game Awards, Nintendo announced the release of Bayonetta 2 on February 16, 2018. It is set to launch on the Switch.

The game was critically acclaimed and was a Wii U exclusive title. However, due to the Wii U’s rather unsuccessful life, bringing it to the Switch will definitely bring attention to the game. The game will retail for $59.99, and if you buy the game, you will get a code for the original Bayonetta game.

Bayonetta 3 Announcement
By the way, Bayonetta 3 is in development. Not excited. Well, here is the trailer. How about now? The game is only in development at this point, so a release date will be announced later.

Rabbids Versus Mode
In the latest update for Mario + Rabbids Battle Kingdom, a new mode has been introduced.

Versus Mode is the latest mode released for the game. Versus Mode pits you and a friend together to see who the better Rabbid is. You and your opponent each pick a team of 3 characters and you use those characters to battle on brand new maps. One of the major differences in this mode is that instead of using all actions for each character, you either must only move all your characters or 1 character gets to attack and move while the rest sit tight. Versus Mode is a test of strategic skill.

The update launched December 8th and is free to download.

Pokémon Ultra Moon/Sun Update
On December 8th, Game Freak announced they would release a patch for the Ultra Sun/Moon games.

The patch would include some fixes on issues that have been plaguing the game. The issues include:

  • When you chose Litten as your starter, the game may freeze
  • Wide Guard protects again all Z-Moves

  • The move Ion Deluge does not work at all

  • Pokémon that know less than 4 moves will have their first move deleted when being taught a move by the Move Tutor

The update is expected to launch later this month.

Nintendo Weekly News November 27th-December 1st

Today’s weekly news update is brought to you by deals on games and accessories and also cereal. Yes, I said cereal.

Nintendo Store Free Shipping
The first deal I am going to talk about is the deal going on in the Nintendo Store

This deal is for free shipping on Nintendo’s online store. Nintendo Store is pretty cool place to buy refurbished items directly from Nintendo. Some refurbished items include the New 3DS Xl and the Wii U. Accessories for those consoles are also found on their website. The prices are fairly descent. For example, a refurbished Wii U with Nintendo Land only costs $175.00. Things such as plushies and games are also sold on the site.

You must spend $50 in order to get free shipping and the deal only lasts until December 13th

ARMS Update
A new ARMS update has been release. The update boosts the game to version 4.1.

The update adds the newest fighter, Springtron! The update also adds some new badges and various fixes and adjustments.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Release
It took a while, but Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has finally launched for the Switch. It released on December 1st

After a direct, a few leaks, and gameplay insight, the game has finally released. Much of which I have covered, but in a summary, the game is about Rex, the player, finding a way to stop the Titans from destroying each other. Hope lies in Pyra, a living weapon known as the Blade. You’ll have to find out the rest of the story for yourself.

The game retails for $59.99 and is available on the eShop and in stores.

Super Mario Cereal Amiibo
You read that headline right. There is an amiibo that is a cereal box. Here’s a picture of it.

Source: Nintendo

As you can see, on the bottom right corner of the box, you can see the amiibo logo on the box. If you tap this amiibo into Super Mario Odyssey, you can earn some gold coins or a heart. The amiibo, or cereal box, will be available at store shelves as soon as December 11th. This is in collaboration with Kellogg cereals. Just don’t expect this amiibo to be available at your local GameStop.

Well, that’s all for this week, so I hope to “see” you next week,
