Nintendo Weekly News February 12th-16th

Welcome back to your regularly scheduled news! Today’s weekly update is brought to you by Google Cardboard…. err…. I mean Nintendo Labo.

Nintendo Labo
The latest and newest invention from Nintendo is…. a cardboard box. Well not exactly. Some new details have been revealed for it, so let’s dive into it.

Nintendo Labo is essentially a cardboard box that can turn into lots of great and cool innovations. The cardboard items work with the Switch and more specifically, the Joy-Cons. The items are called Toy-Cons. The Toy-Cons work in-game to play different games. Nintendo Labo is sold in two packs, and each pack makes something different.

First up is the Robot Kit. The Robot Kit builds a wearable Toy-Con Robot suit to control a giant in-game robot. You can customize and level up the robot by customizing the Toy-Con suit.

The next kit is the Variety Kit. This kit is able to make a Toy-Con Piano, Toy-Con Motorbike, Toy-Con Fishing Rod, Toy-Con House, and Toy-Con RC Cars. Each Toy-Con interacts with the Switch to play a different game.

Nintendo Labo will release on April 20th. The Variety Kit will retail for $69.99 and the Robot Kit will retail for $79.99. Here is a link to the Nintendo Labo website for more details.

Bayonetta 1 and 2 Switch Release
On February 16th, both Bayonetta 1 and 2 released for the Switch.

First up is the original Bayonetta game. In this game, Bayonetta has awakened after sleeping at a bottom of a lake for over 500 years. She has lost her memory and now your quest is to help her recover her lost past. You can use a variety of stylish moves and some cool tricks such as the ability to stop time. Also, as a special Nintendo treat, you can dress Bayonetta as Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, Link, or Samus Aran. This game is a one player game.

Next up is Bayonetta 2. This game features the return of Bayonetta and her over the top attacks. In this story you must rescue Bayonetta’s friend before it is too late. Some new moves in this game include the Umbran Climax, which summons Infernal Demons to deal a devasting blow to the enemy. You can also team up with a friend to play in Co-Op mode.

For the price of both games combined it is about $59.99. If you purchase the physical copy of Bayonetta 2, you can obtain a code to download the original Bayonetta game for free. If you choose to buy the game on the eShop, the price for Bayonetta is $30 while the price for Bayonetta 2 is $50. If you choose to buy both, the price comes out to $59.99.

Detective Pikachu Amiibo and Game Release
Yes, the game is already available in other countries, but now it finally arrives to North America…. on March 23rd. The game features Detective Pikachu and his partner Tim solving mysteries throughout the city. There will also be a Detective Pikachu amiibo to accompany the game. The amiibo will also be larger than a normal amiibo, which is pretty cool. Here is a picture of it. *Pikachu for scale.
